The Devil's Arrows are an alignment of three enormous standing stones near Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire. They lie at the centre of a line of standing stones, henges and other remains running North/South to Thornborough and beyond. They were erected during the Bronze Age (c 2,200 - 1,400 BC) then adopted by the Brigantes tribe in the Iron Age as a centre for religious and tribal gatherings. The importance of the Arrows is further indicated by the proximity, three miles away, of the tribal capital Isurium Brigantium (c. 120 A.D.).
